8 Organization Things Every Work-At-Home Mom Needs

You need two things from your organization system when you are a work-at-home mom with young children. It needs to be easy and portable. Here are some of my favorite work-at-home organization tips and products for keeping it all together without going crazy.

How I Stay Sane as a (Single) Work-At-Home Mom

Sometimes I feel completely overwhelmed balancing my two kids with my career as a single mom. There are often a lot of tears. However, there are some must-have products that make it a little easier. Check them out today!

1-A Paper Organizing System

One of the biggest ways to maximize your paper organization system is to keep as many documents digital as possible. Still, when you do need hard copies and you have little ones, I recommend something portable with a lid, like these adorable file holders. They allow you to keep all your documents in separate folders, and they are easy to store on a high shelf when you need to keep them out of the way.

2-Stationary Holder With a Lock

This is another great solution for moms with littles. My girls will use anything they can find to color on the walls. I was literally drowning in ink and crayon. It got to the point where I would hide the pens in such weird places that I would never remember where I hid them, and it made labeling their school things in the morning a true nightmare. And I am pretty sure they’d get into this one, too, if they tried. However, it’s big enough that it’s easy to find when you have to hide it, and it locks so you won’t accidentally spill it on yourself when climbing a ladder to get it off the roof. Did I mention my kids were excellent climbers?

3-Cord Organizer & Charger

One thing that surprised me about being an adult is the sheer number of cords adulting involves and the number of things you need to keep charged. The second thing that surprised me about being an adult is how much time I’d spend trying to remember where I left my phone charger and even which outlet I plugged my phone or laptop into. So a cord organizer and device charger are great ways to keep all your cords in one place.

4-On-the-Go Tech Organizer

Being a work-at-home mom is about taking opportunities to work when you can, and an on-the-go tech organizer makes that much easier. It helps you keep track of your wires, mouse, and pens, so they don’t make a mess all over your bag.

5-Phone Holder

This one almost seems a little decadent, and it probably would make a lovely gift, but a cell phone holder is key to working at home, especially if you have a job where you could benefit from two screens but only have one laptop or desktop.

6-Wrist Guard

Not technically an organization device, but definitely a productivity tool, as it allows you to do more with less discomfort. I have a terrible habit of not using a desk (or owning one,) and the edge of my laptop drives me nuts when it digs into my wrist while I type, so this is an excellent investment.

7-To-Do List

Now, you probably know that I love spreadsheets for planning and if you didn’t, definitely check out my blog post here. However, sometimes, you just need to write your to-do list out for the day, or you want your priority tasks in a separate place where you can quickly glance down at them. This cheap, non-dated to-do list past is a great way to accomplish that.

8-Work-At-Home Super Center

If you don’t have a dedicated workspace, you might want to consider something like this work-at-home carrying case. It’s got a charging station, pen holders, a whiteboard, and all sorts of other cool features. It’s kind of big, but you can store all your work-at-home stuff and hide it away from curious kiddos.

Okay, so there are the at-home organization tools for 2023. Let me know in the comments if that was helpful or if you have any products that you love.
