The Best Picture Books on a Tiny Budget
Are you on a budget but still want to grab some classic children’s books for your toddlers and younger kids? Are you worried about how much it would cost to actually buy and read 1,000 books before kindergarten when some board books are selling for $20 or more?!
Me too! (Things are super tight this month. Oof!) Anyway, it wasn’t easy, but I managed to find 12 kids’ books on Amazon that are *currently* on sale for $3 or less. However, prices could go up any time, so check them out today.

1-The Monster at the End of This Book
This super classic featuring my favorite Sesame Street character, Grover, is now a movie on PBS, but I still think the book is better.
2-Good Night, Little Bear – A Sleepy-Time Tale
My two-year-old loves mommy and baby books like this one, and the illustrations are super sweet.
3-The Foot Book: Dr. Seuss’s Wacky Book of Opposites
I loved Dr. Seuss as a kid, and I am so happy to see that a bunch of his best books are on sale when things are getting tight.
4-Dr. Seuss’s ABC: An Amazing Alphabet Book!
Here is another Seuss classic, this time his truly amazing alphabet book. It’s a steal at $2.98!
5-Toy Story 4 Little Golden Book (Disney/Pixar Toy Story 4)
If we are being honest, I am more of a Little Golden Books fan than a Toy Story fan, but this is both.
6-My First Library: Boxset of 10 Board Books for Kids
Yeah, ok, I hate when bloggers do this too. Technically, this is more than $3, but each book comes out to less than $2 each, and these books are awesome for teaching baby’s first words.
7-My Little Golden Book About Sharks
Are you looking for something non-fiction for your shark-obsessed toddler? Snag this classic before the prices go up!
8-Jurassic Bark! (PAW Patrol) (Little Golden Book)
I was a little skeptical about entering the Paw Patrol universe until my younger daughter became obsessed with puppies. This Little Golden Book has puppies + dinosaurs, so it’s sure to be a winner.
9-The Night Before Christmas – Hardcover Christmas Book (Christmas Rainbow Books)
Once upon a time, back in the 1980s, Hallmark used to make the most stunning pop-up The Night Before Christmas book. This is not that, but it’s still adorable with an even more adorable price tag.
10- Christmas Mouse – Hardcover Children’s Book (Christmas Rainbow Books)
It looks like this publisher has quite a few Christmas books for $3, including this little-known Christmas classic and a Twelve Days of Christmas book. Definitely worth grabbing a few for those last-minute gifts.
11-Oh, the Thinks You Can Think! (Bright & Early Board Books(TM))
Here is the last Seuss on the list, but it’s a good one–the inspirational classic Oh, the Thinks You Can Think! I did not find All the Places You’ll Go, but the book was a little scary anyway.
12-I’m a Unicorn (Little Golden Book)
As a middle grade writer who is currently writing about unicorns, I do believe that books with unicorns are better than books without. And, you know what’s awesome? This one’s on sale for just $3!
